Abstract: The report aims to present a survey conducted in connection with the project „Digital competencies and Media education at preschool and primary school age (2016-2019)“ DN05/ 8-2016 headed by Prof. Dr. Rumyana Papancheva. The working group „Interconnection between reading and digital literacy“ managed by Assoc. Prof. Lubomira Parigkova researched whether and how the development of student’s reading and functional literacies from the initial stage of education may influence on the formation of their digital literacy. Three questionnaires were developed – for students, for parents and for teachers. This article focuses on teachers’ responses.

The accent of the research of teachers’ opinion is on their assessment of pupils’ reading skills and pupils’ skills to work with digital technologies. It will also investigate teachers’ self-assessment of digital competencies.

Keywords: students, teachers, survey, digital literacy, reading.
