Abstract: Learning by doing, as well as problem-based education, are crucial to students’ motivation. Children become discoverers and so the learning process brings them satisfaction. These teaching methods can be used successfully in the initial stages of their schooling.

The article presents the realization of the project „My Street“ in the first grade of Alexander Georgiev-Kodzhakafaliyata Primary School of Burgas. The leading scientific focus in the project is mathematics. The design of activities Introduces new concepts and fosters the development of pupils’ logical and combinational thinking. The interdisciplinary integral learning realized in the project contributes to the development of the creative thinking of the first-graders and their reading comprehension skills. The group work on the project also develops the skills of the students for team work.
