Abstract: This article presents a best teaching practice from an interdisciplinary STEM lesson on the topic of “The Digestive System” taught in fourth grade. The lesson integrates knowledge from the subjects of Human and Nature, Bulgarian Language and Literature, Mathematics, Information Technology, as well as Technology and Entrepreneurship. The main objectives include the development of key competencies, such as a thorough understanding of the structure and functions of the digestive system, fostering a conscious attitude toward a healthy lifestyle, developing reading and oral communication skills, applying mathematical knowledge and skills, and mastering technological tools for solving practical problems. During the lesson, students participated in a variety of interactive activities based on research methods and educational robotics. Ozobot robots were used to solve a math puzzle that provided interesting information related to the digestive system. By completing math problems, language exercises, and hands-on activities, students developed skills in logical thinking, analysis, communication, and collaboration. The practical part of the lesson involved creating models of the digestive system using modeling clay and natural materials, which stimulated creative thinking and reinforced the knowledge gained. Objective observation and systematic feedback from teachers and students attest to a high level of engagement and motivation, as well as effective mastery of the curriculum content through an interdisciplinary and hands-on approach.
