UNITED AGAINST BULLYING: EMPOWERING TEEN VOICES – GOOD PRACTICE FOR INCLUSIVE AND SUPPORTIVE SCHOOL ENVIRONMENTS

Abstract: This good practice presents the experience of „St. St. Cyril and Methodius“ First Primary School in creating a safer school environment through the active participation of students from the School Student Council in initiatives aimed at preventing and addressing bullying. The practice was implemented within the international eTwinning project “United Against Bullying: Empowering Teenage Voices“, carried out in partnership with schools from Turkey, Romania, and Moldova. A safe school environment includes not only physical safety but also a socio-psychological climate – in other words, building positive relationships among all participants in school life. The functioning Student Council, the discussion of current issues, and the active involvement of students in solving them are important prerequisites for reducing aggressive behavior and developing a sense of belonging and responsibility toward the school community. Empowering students as active participants and creators of solutions for improving the school environment is a key element in building a positive school culture. The application of the peer-to-peer education method, collaborative learning, and international partnership supports the development of social-emotional and civic competencies. The role of talented students who take on leadership functions in carrying out campaigns, discussions, and initiatives of public importance is highly significant. The project activities included student-led discussions, thematic workshops, creative campaigns, collaborative tasks, and exchange of good practices among partner schools. Students participated in the preparation of presentations, videos, posters, and interactive activities dedicated to raising awareness about the negative effects of bullying and the importance of tolerance, respect, and emotional support.
