Abstract: The present study explores the possibilities of modeling through augmentative and alternative^communication (AAC) for children and individuals with developmental disabilities and specific language impairments. An overview of the different AAC modeling approaches has been provided, as well as additional intervention strategies applied with children and individuals with neurodevelopmental disorders, Down syndrome, Cerebral Palsy, genetic syndromes, and multiple disabilities. The report also examines opportunities for improving communicative participation, language development, and inclusion in educational settings.

This recent review of augmented input concluded that packaged interventions that included augmented input were more effective than augmented input in isolation. Characteristics such as age and receptive skills moderated the effect.
