THE USE OF ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE IN DEVELOPING PRIMARY SCHOOL MUSIC LESSONS: ATTITUDES AND ASSESSMENTS OF PRE-SERVICE TEACHERS

Abstract: The article presents an empirical study of the assessments and attitudes of pre-service primary school teachers regarding the use of artificial intelligence in developing music lessons for primary school. The study was conducted in the context of practical classes in the course “Methodology of Music Education in Primary School” during the summer semester of the 2025 – 2026 academic year, in which students were given the opportunity to use artificial intelligence when developing content for music lessons. The survey involved 45 students from three teacher education programmes. An author-developed questionnaire comprising 36 statements grouped into six indicators and assessed on a five-point Likert scale was administered. The results show that the highest-rated indicator was students’ critical editorial and authorial intervention (M = 4.19), followed by attitudes towards the future use of artificial intelligence in teacher education (M = 3.82). More moderate assessments were recorded for the functional usefulness of artificial intelligence (M = 2.99) and its applicability to specific musical activities (M = 3.00). The data outline artificial intelligence as a supporting tool whose educational value becomes evident through critical judgement, methodological revision, and the active authorial position of the pre-service teacher.
