DIGITAL COMPETENCE IN THE CONTEXT OF GENERATIVE ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE: NEW DIMENSIONS AND CHALLENGES

Abstract: The rapid development of generative artificial intelligence has brought significant changes to the way digital technologies are used, including in education. Although contemporary European frameworks, particularly DigComp 3.0, acknowledge the growing role of artificial intelligence, its increasing integration into teaching and learning raises the question of whether the current understanding of digital competence adequately encompasses the knowledge, skills, and attitudes required for effective and responsible interaction with intelligent systems. The aim of this paper is to analyse the evolution of the concept of digital competence and to examine the impact of generative artificial intelligence on its contemporary content.
