IS THERE A WILL TO RESET EDUCATION?

Abstract: This paper examines the consequences of using generative artificial intelligence in education from the perspective of higher education and pedagogical practice. It does not aim to solve the philosophical questions of truth, essence and meaning, but uses them as a starting point for discussing the need to rethink educational goals, assessment and academic responsibility. The analysis is based on three World Bank publications from 2024 and 2025 on artificial intelligence in higher education, student perceptions of AI and the Bulgarian school context. The paper also integrates the discussion of cognitive offloading and a teacher competency model for Education 4.0. It argues that a meaningful reset of education requires more than the introduction of new tools: it requires AI fluency, redesigned assessment, ethical regulation, teacher competencies and a human-centred architecture of trust.
