SOCIOCULTURAL COMPETENCIES IN KINDERGARTEN: THEORETICAL-NORMATIVE DIMENSIONS AND CONCEPTUAL FRAMEWORK

Abstract: This article explores the theoretical and normative dimensions of sociocultural competencies (SCC) as a fundamental priority in contemporary preschool education in kindergarten. Based on established pedagogical and psychological theories, a conceptual framework is constructed, synthesizing these competencies into four measurable types: social skills, civic responsibility, national identity, and cultural literacy. The paper traces how SCC are embedded in European strategic documents and Bulgarian normative regulations, highlighting the transition from mechanical knowledge acquisition to a humanistic, competence-based model. Special attention is given to the visible and invisible dimensions of culture, focusing on the formation of empathy and value attitudes through active social interaction. In conclusion, project-oriented activities and interactive educational environments are affirmed as the most effective tools for building socially adaptive personalities in kindergarten.
