Abstract: The paper examines the continuing professional development of teaching staff through the lens of knowledge management, addressing the question of the conditions under which a teacher’s individual professional experience becomes a sustainable institutional advantage for the educational institution. To this end, the paper applies models from strategic management theory originally developed for the business sector – Hamel and Prahalad’s concept of core competencies, Barney’s resource-based VRIO analysis, Kaplan and Norton’s balanced scorecard, the Dreyfus brothers’ skill acquisition model, and the talent management practices formulated by McKinsey & Co. – situating each model within a logical sequence that moves from identifying pedagogical potential, through its strategic evaluation and measurement, to its deliberate institutionalization. The analysis shows that pedagogical expertise meets all the criteria of a strategic resource: it is valuable, rare, difficult to imitate, and, given an appropriate organizational system, effectively exploitable, but only when the educational institution has mechanisms in place for its preservation, measurement, and transfer beyond the individual holder of the experience. The paper concludes with a six-step synthesized framework that school and kindergarten leadership can apply as a diagnostic tool for converting individual teaching experience into a durable institutional asset.
