YOUNG RESEARCHERS – STEM LESSON IN INTEREST ACTIVITIES – 2ND GRADE

Abstract: „Young Researchers“ is a STEM lesson in Second Grade Interest Activities. As teachers we strive for teaching our students in the most comprehensible way. Systematic and qualitative learning of school material would be much more effective through attractive teaching based on principles of scientific methods, simplicity, perceptibility and also students’ participation in the practical realization of the tasks. We have set practical activities in the lesson’s basis as time provided in compulsory lessons for these activities is not enough. New knowledge for second graders concerns usefulness and importance of the profession „researcher”. They learn about the connection between wonders of nature expressed in colours and forms and their inspiring strength for human creative environment. They learn new terms. They develop their knowledge for apprehending and protecting nature. They understand how important each profession can be and assigned in the role of researchers, they find out the funny side of science too. They understand the importance of learning for the future professional realization. We have set various activities and interdisciplinary connections striving to achieve the aims of the lesson through their implementation.
