„DISCOVER BULGARIA“ – AN INTERDISCIPLINARY LESSON IN THIRD GRADE

Abstract: The lesson „Discover Bulgaria“ is interdisciplinary and aimed at consolidating and building on third-grade students’ knowledge of Bulgaria’s natural and cultural-historical landmarks.
By integrating knowledge from the subjects Bulgarian Language and Literature, Man and Society, and Information Technology, students develop skills in reading comprehension, oral and written expression, orientation on the map of Bulgaria, and working with digital resources.
An important focus of the lesson is the creation of the e-book „The Adventures of Elena and Kaloyan“ by third-graders with the help of a teacher. Through this creative task, students write their own texts, develop their imagination, and discover the power of words as their characters travel to various historical sites. In this way, they not only learn new facts about Bulgaria, but also practice their storytelling, thinking, and idea presentation skills.
The aim of the lesson is to build an emotional connection with the homeland, to stimulate curiosity and pride in students, and to develop confidence and creative thinking.
