Abstract: The article presents a pedagogical model for building environmental awareness in early childhood through a mini project entitled „Guardians of Nature“, implemented at Kalina Malina Kindergarten in the village of Rakevo during the 2024/2025 academic year. The project involves children from a mixed-age group, including participants from socially disadvantaged backgrounds, with the goal of forming a caring and responsible attitude toward nature. Through storytelling, games, experiments, outdoor activities, and ecological initiatives, children explore the natural world, develop observation and thinking skills, and engage emotionally with environmental issues. The project’s structure includes thematic monthly activities such as planting, recycling, bird feeding, and participation in initiatives like Earth Day and Caps for the Future. The results demonstrate that experiential learning in nature not only builds basic environmental knowledge and habits but also fosters empathy, social inclusion, and a sense of belonging. The model proves the effectiveness of early environmental education in nurturing sustainable behavior and civic responsibility from the earliest years.
