Abstract: A mathematical model is a simplified representation of a real-world activity that can provide a solution through an algorithmic approach. It has both advantages and disadvantages. One drawback is that it represents only an idealized version of real-life problems, excluding insignificant aspects. However, its advantages far outweigh the disadvantages — by using the language of mathematics, it offers solutions and allows for monitoring and predicting outcomes. At the core of every successful project lies a solid mathematical model, often based on standard and well-known mathematical objects [1]. These models provide predictable solutions with a high degree of accuracy. Students have already developed skills for working with mathematical models. In this article, we share a methodological approach for applying mathematical models in vocational subjects, as a necessity. The example presented relates to interior design for furnishing a room, where students develop skills in spatial thinking, computational techniques, planning, design, and abstract thinking — all of which are essential for building both professional and soft skills in students training in the „Interior Design“ profession.
