MUSIC AND ЕNGLISH – OPPORTUNITIES FOR INTEGRATING LEARNING CONTENT IN THE EARLY STAGES OF PRIMARY EDUCATION

Abstract: This article presents an interdisciplinary teaching approach aimed at offering students equally balanced exposure to content from multiple subjects. Instruction is collaboratively planned within a Professional Learning Community (PLC) using the Understanding by Design (UBD) framework, which clearly defines the objectives, tasks, and expected outcomes for both subject areas. Original teaching resources—such as newly created texts, practice exercises, and worksheets—are developed specifically for the planned lesson. This process expands the scope of traditional subject-specific methodologies and fosters a culture of co-teaching. Educational goals are achieved through a wide range of interactive and creative activities, including listening, speaking, writing, drawing, singing, and playing instruments. These varied methods not only enhance knowledge retention but also develop key skills such as teamwork, interpretation, creative expression, and intercultural understanding. The results demonstrate that an interdisciplinary approach not only increases students’ motivation to learn but also creates conditions for deep and meaningful knowledge acquisition at the primary education level.
