KEY DETERMINANTS FOR MOTIVATION AND PROFESSIONAL SATISFACTION OF UNIVERSITY LECTURERS IN THE FIELD OF HIGHER EDUCATION SOCIAL, ECONOMIC AND LEGAL SCIENCES IN BULGARIAN HIGHER EDUCATION INSTITUTIONS

Abstract: This report presents the results of a survey conducted representative of the Republic of Bulgaria among nearly 1,800 university lecturers working on a basic employment contract. The aim of the survey is to create a contemporary comprehensive picture of the motivation for work and professional satisfaction of lecturers in higher education institutions in our country. The survey was conducted electronically and is based on the principle of random systematic selection among lecturers in all Bulgarian universities (public and private). Lecturers from all professional fields of higher education were surveyed. This report pays particular attention to the academic staff in the field of higher education 3 Social, economic, and legal sciences. A comparative analysis was prepared between the results of the survey of the entire general population (n = 1783) and those in area 3 Social, Economic and Legal Sciences (n = 292). The software product SPSS, v19, was applied in the processing of the obtained data. The reliability of the internal consistency of the test was measured using Cronbach’s Alpha. The methods of statistical processing used were: descriptive statistics; crosstabulation; correlation analysis.
