Abstract: Social services are activities that support and expand the opportunities of individuals to lead an independent lifestyle, respect their rights and are carried out in community and residential social services. They are based on targeted social work to support individuals in carrying out daily activities, an individual approach and social inclusion. This report aims to provide a theoretical reading in the field of socio-pedagogical work with individuals with intellectual disabilities in Bulgaria. A basic characteristic of social work in residential social services for individuals with intellectual disabilities is provided. Based on the limited public data available on the topic (documentary method), an attempt has been made to briefly describe the structure, specificity and organization of socio-pedagogical work in family-type accommodation centers for individuals with intellectual disabilities in Bulgaria. The Republic of Bulgaria has had completely new legislation in the field of social services since 2020, which is still being improved in practice and the entry into force of more regulatory documents in the field is awaited. Family-type accommodation centers include specialists such as: manager, social worker, nurse, occupational therapist and others as needed.
