Abstract: In the context of the dynamic digital transformation in education, the development of digital competence has become a fundamental element of the qualification profile of modern educational professionals. This paper explores the significance, structure, and practical dimensions of digital competence, focusing on its integration into teacher training and continuous professional development. Based on international and national frameworks such as DigCompEdu, the study examines how digital competence is defined, assessed, and promoted in educational policies and institutions. Special attention is paid to formal, non-formal, and informal mechanisms for competence development, as well as the challenges teachers face in adopting and effectively applying digital tools in the learning process. Through analysis of best practices and recent research, including the influence of artificial intelligence in classrooms, the paper outlines key recommendations for improving the digital readiness of educators. The findings highlight the need for systemic support, targeted training programs, and the creation of a digital culture in schools to ensure quality, inclusive, and future-oriented education.
