THE WAY OF BREAD – INTERDISCIPLINARY LESSON FOR FORTH GRADE

Abstract: ‘The Way of Bread’ is an interdisciplinary lesson that combines knowledge of Bulgarian language and literature, mathematics, man and society, man and nature, technology and entrepreneurship, fine arts. The aim of this lesson is to make students understand the importance of bread in human life. It teaches respect for history, work, traditions and customs. Through a pre-prepared presentation, the teacher gives a motivated and emotional introduction to the topic. In the worksheet, he skillfully uses the students’ knowledge of the diff erent subjects to highlight the relevance of the topic in time. The teacher of history and civilizations in the junior secondary stage presents with historical facts the appearance of the first bread. He sets tasks of different nature to the students. The teacher focused on the ritual kneading of the bread, telling about the tradition and showing the kneading process. He makes reference to the future by using the latest and modern information technology. Through artificial intelligence, it shows what the bread of the future will look like. GPT chat presents a recipe for a magical bread. Makes a comparison between the real and the virtual. The theoretical part of the lesson is followed by a practical part. Students follow the different stages of bread making by visiting a local bakery. They learn about the baker’s profession, the technology and the bread’s journey to our table. They are taught respect for every job and profession.
