FAIRY TALES – A WORLD OF SYMBOLISM, MAGIC AND MESSAGES – INTERDISCIPLINARY LESSON IV CLASS

Abstract: ‘Fairy tales – a world of symbolism, magic and messages’ is an interdisciplinary lesson that combines knowledge of Bulgarian language and literature, man and society, art, music and interest activities. The aim of this lesson is to improve the ability to perceive and interpret a fairy tale, to stimulate reading interest, reading and searching for commonalities in fairy tales and people’s lives. After thorough preliminary preparation, students demonstrate knowledge of different genres of fairy tales. Fourth graders take on the role of authors by creating a fairy tale based on a given beginning. Through dramatization of the fairy tale „The Unborn Maid“, students develop the ability to empathize with the feelings and emotions of literary characters. They develop a sense of empathy, moral virtues and values. Their emotional intelligence is enriched. Students perform a song to achieve a strong emotional impact. The primary teacher directs pupils’ attention to a variety of teamwork, which seeks to form skills of expression and argument. The lesson builds skills to make sense of the symbolism, magic and messages in fairy tales.
