Abstract: The lesson „Holidays and Customs in the Republic of Bulgaria“ is an innovative interdisciplinary lesson covering social studies, Bulgarian language, mathematics, and music. The main goal of the lesson is to consolidate and expand students’ knowledge of the offi cial holidays in Bulgaria, distinguishing between traditional holidays and folk customs. Students are given a preliminary task to prepare projects about diff erent holidays. After a brief discussion based on the prepared presentation, students categorize the holidays into three main groups: traditional, official, and religious. Through teamwork involving language tasks, mathematical problems, and solving schemes with the help of OZOBOT educational robots, each group discovers which holiday they need to describe. The lesson also includes reenactments of customs such as caroling and Lazaruvane. The lesson helps to form national consciousness and pride, fosters a tolerant atitude towards differences between ethnicities, and promotes respect for their holidays and traditions. It also develops reading comprehension skills and the ability to work with texts. Additionally, it builds skills for clear and precise expression and adherence to literary norms in speech.
