VASIL LEVSKI – 150 YEARS OF IMMORTALITY – INTERDISCIPLINARY LESSON FOR CONTINUITY IN THIRD AND FIFTH GRADES

Abstract: The aim of this lesson is for students to reflect on the role of the Bulgarian fighter for freedom and the meaning of sacrifice, to make a connection between the historical figure and his reflection in art. After thorough preliminary preparation, students comment on iconic moments from the Apostle’s life and lesser- known facts related to his activities. Through a dramatization of the story „The Apostle in Trouble“, continuity is established between grades 3rd and 5th. After the talk, accompanied by a multimedia presentation on the Apostle’s personal belongings and testaments, a recital was held to achieve a strong emotional impact. The primary school teacher guided the students towards a variety of teamwork, which sought to build the skills of opinion and argumentation. The lesson builds national self-esteem, love of country and adoration for the great personality of Vasil Levski.
