Abstract: The paper presents the experience of the author and her colleagues from St. Cyril and St. Methodius
School from project work realized within the Programme „Erasmus+“ – Project „Cooperation for innovation and
the exchange of good practices”. The aim of the common project between Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Turkey,
Spain and Lithuania is to develop pupils‘ language skills in English. Real opportunities to students to learn,
develop and practice English language in real environment are provided. The development of language skills,
requires students to have intensive communication while participating in various activities through intercultural
education and training. Furthermore, research on second language acquisition suggests that more learning
takes place when students are engaged in relevant tasks within a dynamic learning environment rather than in
traditional teacher-led classes.
The project work is a chance for teachers as well to develop professional skills, to improve English language,
to enrich the opportunities to use social life as a way into their teaching.
