Abstract: The article presents an analysis of the results of a study conducted in seven schools in the country with children in the third grade. The research was carried out within a form-tutor class, as a part of the approbation of a model for forming personal and social competence (within 6 separate form-tutor classes). The purpose of the study is to establish children’s perspectives about tolerance and empathy, identify children’s skills to manifest respect and compassion, and aid those in need. The main tasks of the study are tracking the reactions of third graders to a problematic situation presented through a case; identifying children’s views on tolerance, empathy, and support for others; establishing children’s abilities to distinguish between acceptable and unacceptable behavior. The results, indicating the positive attitudes of third graders toward providing help and support,
exhibiting respect and tolerance, were collected, processed, and analyzed through the research methods projective methodology, and content analysis.
Keywords: tolerance, empathy, support, primary school, children’s perspective.
