Abstract: Vocabulary acquisition is essential for the learning and teaching of a foreign language as it provides learners with access to all forms of oral and written communication. When teaching vocabulary foreign language teachers need to engage students in the learning process, to equip them with strategies for learning words, to use teaching techniques that ensure optimal retention of lexical items. The effective use of modern technologies in the English language classroom may greatly improve the quality of the learning process since the integration of images, animations, video and audio input attracts students’ attention, increases comprehension and generally turns the lesson into an engaging experience. This article summarizes the major vocabulary teaching principles and presents good practices for integrating the mozaBook educational presentation software for interactive whiteboard that have been implemented in English Language classes at „Yoan Ekzarh Balgarski“ Secondary School in Shumen.
