Abstract: STEM is a new way of exploring the world around us. It combines various methods of looking at relevant topics. STEM approach aims at inspiring young people to progress in the fields of science and technology. The main focus lies in developing the natural curiosity and creativity in children, their ability to observe, raise hypotheses, come to conclusions and find solutions to problems. Children are actively engaged in the learning process: they observe, explore, experiment and logically come to conclusions instead of simply remembering and reproducing information. This report presents STEM approach combining engineering and mathematics applied in math classes in second grade. Children try to scientifically explain each step that led to their final project. The teaching process involves practical pplication of all that is theoretically learned resulting in satisfaction with the final project.
