Abstract: The paper presents one innovative way of teaching and learning – the lesson „The Fatherland – Loved and  nvaluable“, held on several consecutive days, within a school tour: Gotse Delchev – Sofia –Belogradchik – Vidin – Vratsa – Gotse Delchev. The following goals were formulated: To create competencies through discovering and interpreting topics and motives, related to the motherland, and improving the communication skills of the students; To build national self-confidence, knowing their homeland; a memory of history through the understanding of creative messages related to the fatherland, and the visit of places of significance for the Bulgarian cultural history; Developing literary and socio-cultural competences to realize on the path of experience that life is a reality of history, morality, moral values, continuity between generations, and sharing experience that has preserved us through the centuries in moments of trial and happiness; expressing an independent position on the theme „The Fatherland – Loved and Invaluable“.
