PICTOGRAMS AS A FACTOR FOR SUCCESS OF THE LITERARY CONVERSATION IN THE PREPARATORY GROUPS IN NURSERY SCHOOLS

Abstract: The article explores the possibility of working towards a synchronized achievement of results in several aspects of the educational process in Bulgarian language and literature teaching in the two preparatory groups of nursery school. The research connects the tendencies towards innovation and dynamism in the literary conversation with a non-traditional visualisation method for the nursery school – pictograms. The proven positive role of play in preschool education is compared to the non-traditional context of the pictograms surrounding the child in real life. The pictogram-based literary exercises used for this research have been structured in six groups: pictograms aiding the understanding of the sequence of the plot; pictograms for multi-aspect characterisation of a character; pictograms to appreciate of the richness of the vocabulary of the literary text; pictograms to explore the emotional state of the characters; pictograms to explore the emotional response of children to the literary text; pictograms for comparison with other images on the literary text. The model tested in practice with Preschool Pedagogy students achieved results for the children in the context of its dynamic play, varied activities (imagery, play, verbal, emotional); its systematic approach and in achieving a number of competences simultaneously – understanding a literary text, reproducing a literary text, developing children’s vocabulary, improving their overall communication skills and personal development.
