Abstract: Homework is an established didactic form for self-learning of students at all stages and levels of school education. It is a dynamically developing form. Its parameters, frequency and functions depend on various factors of the educational and social environment. Leading factors include the educational stage and the extent to which it is awarded; individual peculiarities of students; the living conditions of learners; the resources available to the school and the student’s family. Previous studies have shown that homework does not realize its potential in contemporary constructivist educational environment. The purpose of the research presented in this article is to reveal the attitudes and approaches of primary teachers to homework. 100 primery school teachers were interviewed to explore their attitude towards the organization and realization of homework, as well as to establish their motivation for practicing it. A content analysis of 60 primary school lessons is made to analyze the stated and actual attitude of teachers to homework. Тhe study shows that primery scool teachers approach to homework its traditional and inadequate to constructivist learning process.
