TEACHERES` ADJUSTMENT TO ASSESMENT OF PUPILS` SCHOOL ACHIEVEMENTS IN THE PRIMARY STAGE OF EDUCATION

Abstract: The assessment of the pupils` school achievements may be determined as “the apple of discord“ in education. It is a point of intersection among teachers`, parents`, pupils`, society`s, state`s interests. The assessment, in its substance, is a subject`s activity in expectation of an objective result. The purpose of this study is a research of the teachers` adjustments to the assessment of the school achievements gained by the primary stage pupils. The methods used for the purpose include the SWOT analysis assessment in the primary stage /strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, threats/, discussions, observation, cases solution. The study was performed within the period from October 2018 to April 2019. 170 primary school teachers from Burgas Province took part in it. Its trend was to answer everal questions: How do parents react to grades given by teachers? Is the rating given by the teachers objective and what is the problem which prevents the grades from being objective? How do the grades exert influence upon the pupils? The study proved that the grade is a fine and discrepant tool in the teacher`s hands. Its correct use in training and the achievement of a qualitative education resulting from depend to a great extent on the primary school teacher. Both the assessment and the rating require efforts which should be made by all the participants in the educational process to create an area of confidence and countenance for pupils` development.
