LOGARITHMS AND TECHNOLOGIES IN SECONDARY SCHOOL

Abstract: The article focuses on the changes in both structure and content of syllabus related to the
logarithms from the perspective of technological evolution. As a basis for the comparative study, the author
takes two Bulgarian textbooks in mathematics. The first one is by Blagoy Dimitrov and Todor Dedov issued in
1910. The second textbook is by Stanislava Petkova and colleagues and appeared approximately a century later.
Under consideration are the views about how useful are the logarithms in the context of the contemporary
technological status. Some arguments are given that support the reconsidering the existing educational
paradigm in a new direction oriented to the integrated education. Resolving some didactical issues in teaching
logarithms refers to the implementation of the ICT.
