„ONE DAY IN MY NEIGHBOURHOOD“ – AN INNOVATIVE MULTIDISCIPLINARY LESSON WITH COMMUNICATIVE FOCUS ON ENGLISH, BULGARIAN LANGUAGE AND LITERATURE AND INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY IN FIFTH GRADE

„ЕДИН ДЕН В МОЯ КВАРТАЛ“ – ИНОВАТИВЕН МУЛТИДИСЦИПЛИНАРЕН УРОК С КОМУНИКАТИВНА НАСОЧЕНОСТ ПО АНГЛИЙСКИ ЕЗИК, БЪЛГАРСКИ ЕЗИК И ЛИТЕРАТУРА И ИНФОРМАЦИОННИ ТЕХНОЛОГИИ В ПЕТИ КЛАС

Abstract: This article aims to present good practice in a summary multidisciplinary lesson оn English, Bulgarian language and literature and IT conducted with students from class V„б“ at „Prof. Ivan Batakliev“ Lower Secondary School. I will focus on the English language part of this multi-layered lesson with an mphasis on the development of students’ communication skills in English entitled „One day in my neighbourhood“. The preparation for the lesson aims to motivate students and stimulate their interest in learning the vocabulary related to daily activities, public buildings and types of shops. The preliminary tasks are the following: for the English part, students take pictures of their favourite places in their neighbourhood and the activities they like to do there, for the Bulgarian language and literature part – the view from their window, for the IT part – dangerous intersections in the neighbourhood. The work is realized in two school lessons, based on the idea of removing the boundaries between the subjects, as well as to note that learning is much more lasting and in-depth when one and the same topic is covered by several subjects at the same time. The main accents set in the conducted experimental work are: the formation of practical skills and habits in students to use the language they are studying as a means of communication, students to be active participants in the learning process and to build up skills to work in a team.
